
Senior Associate, Washington Equity Program
Jonathan earned his B.A. in History from Lane College, followed by an M.A. in African American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Ph.D. in American Studies from Purdue University. His doctoral studies included a Fulbright scholarship at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, enhancing his global perspective on research.
He joined the CPI team in 2021.
Since relocating to Houston in 2021, Jonathan has volunteered at the Houston Food Bank Teachers Aid Center, dedicating 3-6 hours weekly to support teachers in acquiring necessary classroom supplies. He also serves as a board member for the Houston Chapter of the Fulbright Alumni Association, where he organises events to promote cultural exchange and mentors new Fulbright recipients.
Jonathan is currently involved in CPI’s Earned Legitimacy initiative, focusing on building trust in marginalised communities. He is actively engaged in the Washington Equity Program, a three-phase initiative with the Washington State Office of Equity, aimed at addressing historical inequities and fostering community engagement in policy discussions.
Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys traveling, visiting museums, and exploring the outdoors. He also has a passion for lavender and appreciates its calming effects in various forms, from treats to beverages.
